DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) — Durham’s new Red Phone Booth, a craft cocktail lounge, is now open.

It’s a 1920s speakeasy experience, meaning that each night you need a secret code to enter.

You dial it inside a restored red London phone booth, and the door swings open.

Red Phone Booth is at 125 W. Orange Street.

“Durham is a city that values innovation while honoring its history, and that’s exactly what drew us to Red Phone Booth. We wanted to introduce an experience that feels truly distinctive, one that combines exceptional hospitality, timeless craftsmanship and an atmosphere unlike anything else in the market,” said Dr. Ralph K. Mensah, a dentist, Durham resident and entrepreneur who invested in the project. “We’re excited to welcome both residents and visitors into a space designed to become a destination for celebrating milestones, building connections and enjoying an elevated night out.”

Fellow investor Dr. Michael A. Thomas, also a dentist, said, “As someone who grew up in (Charlotte) North Carolina and has built both my career and business here, it’s incredibly meaningful to invest in a concept that contributes to Durham’s continued growth. Red Phone Booth reflects the city’s evolution, offering a sophisticated gathering place that complements the area’s thriving culinary, business and cultural scene. We look forward to being part of Durham’s next chapter and creating an experience the community can take pride in.”

Red Phone Booth boasts more than 150 premium cigars, hard-to-find spirits, and an extensive cocktail program rooted in classic recipes.

No membership is required, but members do receive exclusive benefits.

Other locations include Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas and Miami. Durham’s is the first location in North Carolina.
