Keaton Wallace scored 20 points in his preseason debut with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win as they fell 86-84 to Bnei Herzliya.
Maccabi Tel Aviv played their first preseason game on Thursday and already saw big-time potential from one of their key offseason signings.
Despite the 86-84 loss to Bnei Herzliya, marquee NBA acquisition Keaton Wallace put on a show, scoring a team-high 20 points (7/12 FG, 3/5 3PT), adding 4 assists and 3 rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
Wallace comes off a two-year stint split between the Atlanta Hawks and the G League.
He appeared in 53 NBA games last season, averaging 3.5 points and 1.8 assists per game.
In the G League, Wallace averaged 16.1 points (38.5% from three), 6.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.
Another offseason signing and club returnee, Bonzie Colson, was the second-leading scorer with 15 points and 3 rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
For Bnei Herzliya, D.J. Brewton was the top scorer with 16 points, while Nathan Knight, Dusty Hannahs, and Zack Bryant added 13 points each.
Maccabi will play their second preseason game on September 8 against Maccabi Rishon LeZion.
