Reba McEntire‘s desire to protect her hard-earned fortune before tying the knot with fiancé Rex Linn has thrown their long-delayed wedding into further turmoil, a source tells Closer.
“She’s a romantic and she’s a people pleaser, so her initial reaction was to say she didn’t need a prenup because she didn’t want to have the awkward conversation with Rex,” reveals the source. “Thankfully, she’s reconsidered.”
According to Celebrity Net Worth, the twice-divorced country music singer, 71, is worth a whopping $95 million thanks to her wildly successful music, TV and film career.
“Rex hasn’t made any sort of fuss,” the source says of her change of heart. “He totally understands that they are in very different places financially and he wants Reba to feel protected.”
That said, “it’s not an easy task,” notes the source. “They now have to go through all their personal and individual assets with a fine-tooth comb and it’s not something that either of them is really relishing doing, so it keeps getting kicked down the road.”

The same goes for their wedding plans.
It’s been almost two years since Linn, 69, popped the question to McEntire while they were on safari in Africa, and the couple has yet to set a date, as Closer previously reported.
“That’s a big part of why things are held up,” the source says of the prenup process. “Once this is handled, everyone expects that they will go full steam ahead with the planning. It’s just a matter of getting this unpleasant business out of the way.”
