A familiar face to Houstonians is returning to town after a five-year stint in another Texas metro area. Meteorologist Collin Myers, who previously worked at KTRK before a stint in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, announced Monday he’s coming back to Space City and working at KPRC 2.
“Houston, I’m back,” Myers wrote Monday on Instagram. “See you soon.” This came a day after Myers alerted fans on Instagram that he had a special announcement ready to go.
“KPRC is welcoming meteorologist Collin Myers to our weather team, bringing him back to a city, and a forecast, he already knows well,” read KPRC’s announcement Monday. Recently KPRC has also added Rachel Briers among several new hires. The additions come amid allegations by former KPRC meteorologist Brittany Begley that the station management ignored newsroom issues.
As for Myers, he’s an accomplished longtime meteorologist with plenty of time in Texas. The University of Oklahoma alumnus worked his way to Austin’s KEYE before moving to Houston in 2017. Myers spent four years at KTRK, or ABC 13, before eventually moving over to KTVT and WFAA in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
When with KTRK, Myers covered Tropical Storm Imelda among other weather events. KPRC noted Myers is also an “experienced storm chaser who has documented 14 tornadoes.” In 2019, Myers competed on ABC’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire, winning $30,000 and donating it to Living Water International.
