Drivers entering D.C. from the 14th Street Bridge on Sunday should expect major traffic disruptions as the Fiesta D.C. Day Parade closes roads near the National Mall and reroutes inbound Interstate 395 traffic.
Fiesta D.C., which started Saturday and ends Sunday, is the nation’s largest Latino festival, organizers said. Founded in 1971, the event celebrates Latino culture through food, music, dance and art. This year’s theme is “Sports Across the Americas,” and Brazil is the country of honor.
According to organizers, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. at 15th Street and Constitution Avenue NW and travel east on Constitution Avenue NW to 7th Street NW. The reviewing stand will be near Constitution Avenue and 12th Street NW, and the parade is scheduled to end at 5 p.m.
Festival-related traffic impacts began Saturday. D.C. police said portions of Pennsylvania Avenue, Constitution Avenue, 4th Street and 6th Street NW near the National Mall will be closed through late Sunday. Police also said 7th Street NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue may close intermittently until 7 p.m. Sunday.

According to police, the following roads will be closed through 11:59 p.m. Sunday:

- Constitution Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th streets
- 4th Street NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Madison Drive
- 6th Street NW between Constitution Avenue and C Street
Police said the following streets will be closed from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday:
- Constitution Avenue NW between 14th and 17th streets
- 15th Street SW/NW between Independence Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue
Additional roads will close for the parade from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
- 7th Street NW/SW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Avenue
- 9th Street NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue
- 10th Street NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue
- 12th Street NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Madison Drive
- 14th Street NW/SW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Avenue
- Access to the 12th Street Tunnel from the SE/SW Freeway via I-395
Police said all inbound traffic on I-395 from the 14th Street Bridge, including the HOV roadway, will be diverted to eastbound I-395 during the parade.
Organizers said spectators can access the parade route from the Smithsonian, Federal Triangle, Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter, Metro Center and L’Enfant Plaza Metro stations.
Drivers should avoid Constitution Avenue and the Federal Triangle area during parade hours and expect the heaviest impacts near the National Mall and Washington Monument. Those heading downtown from Virginia should plan for delays and consider alternate routes.
Police said emergency no-parking restrictions will be in effect on affected streets throughout the weekend. Vehicles parked in violation may be ticketed and towed.
