The 2026 college football season is one month old, and CBS Sports have released its latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft. It looks like the battle for who will be the No. 1 overall pick will be a tight one based on how the top players have looked so far this season.
Before the start of the college football season, Texas quarterback Arch Manning was looked at as a potential No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. That could still happen, but another player is making his case to have his name called first.
As we enter October, several big college games will be played, and it will likely determine which players stand above the rest of the draft class. Here’s a look at the updated 2027 NFL Mock Draft from CBS Sports’ Mike Renner.

The Dolphins are struggling to start the year and need playmakers to help quarterback Malik Willis. Smith could be just what Miami needs to turn things around and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2023.
Smith is off to a hot start with Ohio State, posting 33 receptions for 617 yards and seven touchdowns through four games. In the Week 4 game against Illinois, Smith caught 12 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns.
2. Arizona Cardinals — QB Arch Manning, Texas
Manning is having a solid start to the 2026 season, but he will likely be selected in the top three of the draft even if he struggles down the stretch. The Cardinals need a playmaking quarterback after parting ways with Kyler Murray.
This year, Manning has thrown for 895 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has led Texas to a 4-0 record with wins against Texas at home and Tennessee on the road. Texas is currently the No. 1 team in the country.
The Titans need more help for quarterback Cam Ward, and Seaton is the best option to help turn things around. Seaton is currently playing his first season at LSU after spending the last two seasons at Colorado.
“Seaton has elite-level potential in the passing game, where he’s one of the most impressive athletes you’ll ever see at the position,” Renner said about Seaton. The offensive tackle is a big reason LSU is currently 3-1 right now.
This would be an interesting pick for the Browns. Deshaun Watson is playing well right now, but it’s likely he won’t be with the team next season. Shedeur Sanders will still be on the roster, but Chambliss has a bigger upside.
Chambliss is off to a strong start, throwing for 1,222 yards, 12 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Ole Miss has a challenging schedule the rest of the way, and if Chambliss performs well, he could make the case of being the No. 1 pick.
Moore would be a nice addition for the Jets, who are rebuilding their defense under head coach Aaron Glenn. Renner said Moore would be “a massive upgrade from Brandon Stephens,” who the Jets added last year.
In four games, Moore has posted seven tackles and has yet to record an interception. Opposing quarterbacks are likely staying away from Moore since he picked off five passes and defended seven passes last season.
The pairing of Becker and Malik Nabers would be something Giants fans would love to see. With 2027 being John Harbaugh’s second season, New York could go in several directions with its pick, but Becker would be a strong pick.
This year, Becker has caught 19 passes for 370 yards and six touchdowns. Last year, Becker played in all 16 games for the Hoosiers and caught 34 passes for 679 yards and four touchdowns while helping the team win the national title.
7. Atlanta Falcons — OL Trevor Goosby, Texas
If Michael Penix Jr. struggles this season, the Falcons could take a quarterback with this pick. But if he shows that he can be a franchise QB, Atlanta’s No. 1 priority is the offensive line since Jake Matthews is getting older.
Goosby suffered a knee injury during the preseason but has helped Texas start with a 4-0 record. The senior offensive lineman played a role in Arch Manning not getting sacked in Texas’ win against Ohio State in Week 2.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers — EDGE Colin Simmons, Texas
Simmons is as talented as any player in the 2027 draft class. Based on talent alone, Simmons is worthy of a top-10 pick, but he falls to Tampa Bay due to the needs other teams will have heading into next season.
In four games, Simmons has recorded 13 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. In Texas’ win over Tennessee, Simmons recorded five sacks, which ties a program record. Simmons became the first FBS player to post five sacks in a game against a ranked opponent since 2006.
It would be fitting for Stewart to join the Panthers since he plays for the Gamecocks. Stewart has the talent to be a top-five draft pick, but the recent antics during the Alabama game could hurt his draft status in a big way.
Stewart missed the first two weeks of this season with a back injury. While playing last weekend against Alabama, Stewart punched a player, and that led to the Gamecocks suspending him. In 2025, Stewart collected 33 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
10. Las Vegas Raiders – WR Cam Coleman, Texas
With the way the Raiders are looking right now, it’d be unlikely they’ll be drafting in the top 10 since they are 3-0. But if they do struggle this season, Coleman would be a good fit for a team breaking in new quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Coleman has caught 12 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns in four games. In 2025, Coleman played at Auburn and tallied 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. The duo of Coleman and Brock Bowers would be a treat for Raiders fans.
