ERIE, Pa. — Ten members of the Penn State Behrend men’s cross-country team ran season-best times at the NCAA Preview Meet in Fredonia, New York. The Lions finished eighth out of 13 teams.
Peyton Brewer, a senior from Erie, paced the team, finishing the 8K race in 26:58.6. He placed 16th in a field of 147 runners.
Quinn Brewer, a freshman from Erie, finished in 27:51.3. He placed 48th.
The women’s team placed eighth out of 12 teams. Kelsey Hanna, a sophomore from Cranberry, finished the 6K race in 24:59.8. She finished 23rd in a field of 124 runners.
Behrend’s soccer, volleyball and tennis teams also were in action last week. Here are the scores and highlights:
Men’s soccer
- La Roche 2, Penn State Behrend 1
Daniel Battista, a sophomore from South Park, scored in the 25th minute against La Roche. Goalkeeper Connor Cross, a junior from Erie, blocked a penalty kick with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Women’s soccer
- Penn State Behrend 11, LA Roche 0
- Penn State Behrend 0, Carnegie Mellon 0
Eleven different players scored against La Roche. Goalkeeper Gabriella Green, a freshman from Waterford, made seven saves against Carnegie Mellon.
Women’s volleyball
- Penn State Behrend 3, Mt. Aloysius 0
- Penn State Behrend 3, La Roche 0
- Penn State Altoona 3, Penn State Behrend 2
Cadence Jones, a junior from North East, had 24 kills and 17 digs against Penn State Altoona. Brynne Smith, a junior from Butler, had a career-high 50 assists.
Women’s tennis
- Penn State Behrend 4, Penn State Altoona 3
- Grove City 6, Penn State Behrend 1
Lindsey Kerlin, a senior from Clearfield, won at No. 4 singles against Penn State Altoona, finishing 6-0, 6-2. Triss Righi, a junior from Erie, won at No. 6 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.
