The beginning of the new work meek also lines up with one of the last times this year that we’ll see multiple MLB games on the same day. After the Brewers eked out a 2-1 win over the Dodgers in the NLCS opener last night, they’ll play Game 2 late this afternoon while the Rays and Guardians begin their ALCS rumble at the Trop in the night game. We’re guaranteed of one more on Thursday and potentially another on Friday if the NLCS isn’t a sweep. But that might be it unless we have a couple long series. Value the baseball while you can!*
*Or just continue your hiatus if you feel like the 2026 Yankees forced you to take five. No judgments! I get it. Sincerely.
Today on the site, Kevin will recap the first game of the NLCS, Andrés will remember the worst moments of the 2026 Yankees season, and then return to celebrate the 92nd birthday of Stengel/Houk-era Yankees dynasty shortstop Tony Kubek, also a highly-regarded announcer. Later, Nick will preview the Rays/Guardians ALCS and Estevão will weigh who Yankees fans might prefer to win it all from the two remotely palatable teams remaining.
Feel free to use this as your NLCS Game 2 open thread!
