FORT WORTH, Texas – Sun Devil Triathlon will head into the NCAA Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship race in November with a lot of momentum following a second-place finish at Sunday’s NCAA Women’s Collegiate Triathlon West Regional Championship in Fort Worth.
Sidney Clement (1st – 10:01.91) and Alex Campbell (3rd – 10:09.84) were two of the top three finishers following the opening swim segment. But it was a strong finishing run by Arizona’s Kelly Wetteland (a race-best 17:20.27) and a 34:18.36 bike time – the 12th fastest – prevented Clement from standing atop the podium.
Clement (2nd – 17:23.84), Zoe Mari Adam (5th – 17:50.04), Campbell (7th – 17:59.98) and Britney Brown (12th – 18:33.28) all posted run times good enough to be listed among the 12-fastest times. Seven different Sun Devils also had bike times that ranked in the top 20, including Alice Alessandri, who had the second fastest mark at 33:46.92. And in addition to Clement and Campbell’s swim times, Brown (10th – 10:21.90), Mari Adam (11th – 10:22.54) Brooke Rousselle (14th – 10:25.39) and Kathrin Ritter (18th – 10:30.18) all had swim times that were among the 18 fastest.

We’re very happy with the team performance and now we go into a final three-week training block that we’re looking forward to in order to make a final push for a national championship.”
