Best NBA Bets Today (Friday, Oct. 23)
Paul George Under 17.5 Points (-111) vs. New York Knicks
DraftKings Sportsbook – 1 PM ET
Kirien Sprecher: George went off during his Celtics debut, posting 38 points on 12-for-21 shooting, including 7-for-12 from deep. He attempted at least 20 shots only five times last season, so I’m treating this performance as an outlier. Seeing as Boston struggled mightily outside of George during the regular-season opener, I expect more cohesion to the offense, which should mean the veteran doesn’t take nearly as many shots Friday as he did against Detroit.
Darius Garland under 7.5 assists (-127) at Los Angeles Lakers
Novig, 4:40 PM ET
Alex Barutha: Garland posted 30 points and four assists against the Kings in the opener. He’s going to continue handling a huge portion of the offense, but I think the Clippers will need his scoring more than his passing — not to mention the Lakers are a tougher opponent.
Detroit Pistons moneyline (-112) at Miami Heat
FanDuel, 4:32 PM ET
Alex Barutha: Miami will be better than they were against Minnesota, but I think Detroit has the pieces to give Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo problems with their excellent defense. I imagine this will be a matchup that gives the Heat issues all year.
