Sidney Crosby added another historic accomplishment to his already decorated career Saturday, setting an NHL record with the most assists by a player with one franchise.
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain reached the milestone against the Montreal Canadiens, picking up an assist on Erik Karlsson’s goal to record his 1,112th assist with the franchise.

Crosby passed Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque, who previously held the record with 1,111 assists for the Boston Bruins. Wayne Gretzky ranked third with 1,086 assists for the Edmonton Oilers, followed by Steve Yzerman (1,063) with the Detroit Red Wings.
Crosby has spent his entire NHL career in Pittsburgh since being selected No. 1 overall in the 2005 NHL Draft. He has helped the Penguins win three Stanley Cup championships and remains one of the most productive playmakers of his generation.
The 39-year-old continues to add to his legacy as he enters another season with the franchise.
