United will send a premium Boeing 787-9 on limited Las Vegas-Tokyo flights for CES 2027. The aircraft is scheduled to depart Las Vegas on Jan. 9, 10 and 11, as the convention concludes. Earlier Tokyo-to-Las Vegas services will use a Boeing 777-200ER.
The temporary route is unusual for United, which generally assigns the aircraft to major hubs and markets with strong premium demand. The 787-9 has 99 premium seats: eight Polaris Studios, 56 standard Polaris business-class suites and 35 Premium Plus seats. Its 123-seat economy cabin includes 33 Economy Plus seats with extra legroom. Tokyo-to-Las Vegas flights on Jan. 3, 4 and 5 are assigned an older 777-200ER.
The aircraft’s appearance is tied to the Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled in Las Vegas from Jan. 6 through Jan. 9. Airlines often add temporary services for major events. Delta is also planning one-off Las Vegas flights to Hong Kong and Taipei, plus additional daily service during CES to its hubs and Austin, its focus city.
The suites appear from Las Vegas on only three dates, limiting access on this route. Tokyo departures use an older aircraft, so travelers on that leg will not get the same premium cabin.
