DENVER (KDVR) — Dating in Colorado, especially Denver, isn’t for the weak. From hopeless bars to dry dating apps, many have complained about the dating scene in “Menver.” However, some lucky folks were able to find their forever mate in the Centennial State.
To find out the odds of meeting a partner in Colorado, FOX31 took to social media and asked, “Did you meet your significant other in Colorado? Tell us more.”
Viewers piled in with comments, some sharing their luck and others their frustrations with dating in the state.
Viewers met their partners in these Colorado places
Some viewers said they met their partner at work, like at the Ultimate Electronic Soundtrack in 1997, while others were high school sweethearts, like a pair that met at Abraham Lincoln High School in 1997.
Not everyone’s Colorado love story was as common. Some pairs met on dating apps, on the road and even after calling into a radio station.
Here are some Nicholas Sparks-novel-worthy stories FOX31 viewers shared:
“I-25 Speedway, on the north side of Pueblo. I was the turn two official, and a bunch of guys were noticing the pink hair. They kept announcing Toby McKeever, single and looking. I Facebook stalked him and messaged him. Our first date was 7/13/17, driving Gold Camp Road. Got married 12/31/22 at Helen Hunt Falls!” one FOX31 viewer commented on Facebook.
“Five years ago, I was home visiting Denver from Germany. I was at the right place, right time, when I met a beautiful girl from Florida at Voodoo Doughnut. The bacon maple bars we got were great, and the voodoo doll was amazing. We walked around downtown together eating our doughnuts and talked until 2 a.m. (we met around 1 p.m.). We’re now married with three kids all because the universe aligned, and delicious doughnuts at Voodoo,” commented another viewer.
“Seventh caller on the radio station. I (won) tickets and a husband!” commented another.
“New Year’s Eve party 2009. Went with a friend, met him, 10 days later we went on our first date at the Thirsty Bear in Lakewood. The rest is history including an amazing trip to Paris and Key West. Lost him to cancer in 2017. We had an amazing journey together!” commented another viewer on FOX31’s Facebook.
“2017 Front Range Community College phlebotomy class. I was helping out a friend and he was helping out the same friend, realized we had known each other since ’09 when he lived in Ohio. Married seven years in December,” one person commented.
“Met him over the radio. He was working FS fire dispatch in Pueblo, and I worked fire on the Rio Grande NF. We had our first meet and date on June 11, 2006, and we are still together,” said another viewer on Facebook.
“We met here in Colorado when we were both law enforcement explorers when we were 16 years old in the late 90s, started dating in 2000 at 18. Here we are two kids and almost 24 years later (22 married) through school, deployments, career changes, kids graduating and starting their own lives, and we’ve never been happier or more in love. I fall more in love with him every single day,” said another viewer.
“We worked together at a Target in SE Aurora together for five years starting in 2009. After we both left the company, we remained friends until our first date at John Holly’s in Lone Tree on NYE 2015. We’ll be married five years in August!” one person commented.
“My husband moved to Denver in 1987 from Illinois and I moved here in 1987 from Nebraska. We met in September of 1988 at Bangles nightclub in Glendale at the bottom of the spiral staircase. We got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 1989 and married in April of 1989 in the Heritage Square wedding chapel during a big spring snowstorm,” another person said on FOX31’s Facebook.
While many Centennial State success stories exist, others are having some trouble dating.

While some have seemingly found “the one,” others are still searching. The dating scene isn’t hopeless, as many are still with their significant others over 20 years later after meeting right here in Colorado.
