DENVER (KDVR) — Denver’s weather will be cooler Saturday along with a chance of scattered storms in the afternoon and evening.

The best chance of storms will be south of the city and some of these storms could produce gusty winds, thunder, lightning and small hail.

Weather today: Below average temps, mostly cloudy

A cold front arrives across eastern Colorado early on Saturday. As a result, afternoon highs will be noticeably cooler than previous days.

Readings will be in the low to middle 80s, which for Denver is below average by a few degrees. It will be warmer out west with temperatures heating into the upper 80s and 90s.

Gusty thunderstorms will end during the Friday evening hours followed by clearing skies across Colorado. It will be breezy at times with a wind out of the south.

Weather tonight: Chance storms then decreasing clouds

Scattered shower and storm chances continue to stick around through midnight tonight before the skies clear out. It will be breezy with winds out of the southeast anywhere from 10-20 mph, and gusts as high as 30 mph. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Looking ahead: Low storm chances each day

Looking ahead to next week and the Fourth of July holiday, there will be a daily chance for scattered thunderstorms. The good news is most days will have a low chance of just an isolated storm or two, including on Independence Day. These storms will arrive late in the day and move quickly.

Temperatures look to stay close to the Denver average of 88 degrees past Monday. There will be some 90-degree temperatures, but nothing like last week’s heat.
