COLUMBIA — Old Skool Outfitter, a vintage clothing store that got its start in Greenville, will open a location in downtown Columbia.
The hand-me-down boutique will fill one of the suites at 929 Gervais St., sandwiched between the Vista Panera Bread and No Grease Barbershop when it opens August 24.
Aside from opening a storefront in the Vista, the thrift store will also set up shop at Soda City Market on Saturday mornings, owners of the business said.
The Columbia location marks the second for the thrift store, which opened in downtown Greenville in October 2022. It also adds to the growing list of alternative, second-hand clothing stores to open in the Capital City within the last year. Pannerpete Vintage opened its doors last March in Five Points, which was already a hub for locally owned, daytime businesses. And Strange Times Vintage opened right across from the heart of the University of South Carolina’s campus, the Horseshoe, in August.
And the clothing shop will open as the Vista experiences a bit of a renaissance — in the last few years, upscale restaurants, like The Hollow and The Dragon Room, from well-known service industry vets have opened in the arts and entertainment district set along Gervais Street, and an upcoming location of Steel Hands Brewing, based in Cayce, could be coming to the area soon.
Old Skool Outfitter is set to open August 24 and will be located 929 Gervais St. Suite C. For more information about the business and updates, you can find them on Instagram at @oldskooloutfittercola and online at oldskooloutfitter.com.
