Another familiar face is coming back to the Mile High City.

This time, Calle Rosen is returning to the Colorado Avalanche. The defender is coming over from the St. Louis Blues on a one-year deal, and the contract details are still coming. Expect it to be a low number, however.

When he was with the Avalanche organization in the 2019-20 season, he only played eight games with the big club with only two assists to his name. Most of his games came with the Colorado Eagles, where he had three goals and 12 assists in 35 games.

Funnily enough, Rosen originally came to the Avs in a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs for Nazem Kadri. He would also be the defender in the collision with Kardi, which injured Jordan Binnington in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs with the St. Louis Blues.

He joins Jacob MacDonald as another defender returning to the organization. After signing Calvin de Haan earlier today, one of those two, alongside Sam Malinski, will likely be partnered with de Haan. There will be some interesting competitions to watch at training camp in September when it rolls around.

As of the publishing of this article, Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland is holding a press conference, likely signaling the Avs are done at least for today. We’ll see how things shake out down the line, but there have certainly been some changes in the lineup, with both new and old faces.

How would you grade day one of free agency for the Avs? Let us know in the comments below!
