SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Zoo is receiving national attention after being named the third-best zoo across the country.
An expert panel at Newsweek, followed by a public vote, recognized the Alamo City Zoo’s excellence.
This comes shortly after winning the Texas Travel Awards 2024 Best Zoo in Texas for the fifth time in six years and the 2024 Best Family Attraction for five years in a row by the SA Current.
This is the second time in the last two years the San Antonio Zoo has been recognized as one of the top three zoos in the country. In 2023, Zoo Lights, the zoo’s holiday lights program, was also nationally recognized.
“I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering dedication of our Zoo Crew, whose exceptional care for animals and our community embodies the heart and soul of San Antonio Zoo,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo. “I feel very fortunate to be a part of this 110-year-old legacy that elevates San Antonio and propels the conservation community forward. Together, we are shaping a future where wildlife thrives through the conservation and education we pass to our children.”
The San Antonio Zoo has many exciting things planned for 2025, including an expanded giraffe savanna and a highly anticipated Congo Falls gorilla habitat.
The Zoo also recently unveiled a state-of-the-art Zoo Entrance and is planning a new event center next year.
