MANHATTAN — Kansas State football has not played in front of its home fans since late September, but finally get that chance on Saturday when they entertain Kansas for the 122nd edition of the Sunflower Showdown in a 7 p.m. game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
The No. 16-ranked Wildcats (6-1 overall, 3-1 Big 12) have won three straight games, including back-to-back road victories at Colorado (31-28) and this past Saturday at West Virginia (45-18). KU (2-5, 1-3) ended a five-game losing streak by soundly beating Houston, 42-14, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
Kansas leads the all-time series, 64-52-5, but it has been all K-State in recent years with the Wildcats winning the last 15 meetings. Sixth-year K-State coach Chris Klieman has never lost to the Jayhawks, though last year’s 31-27 decision tied for the narrowest margin during the streak.
K-State has not lost since dropping its Big 12 opener, 38-9, at Brigham Young in another night game. The Wildcats are 6-1 for the first time under Klieman and it is their best start since opening the 2014 season 7-1.
