Latino Academy of Workforce Development has a new home at 2909 Landmark Place in Madison.

The Latino Academy of Workforce Development is hosting an open house on Thursday, Nov. 14, 4-7 p.m., featuring a special evening of celebration and connection and an opportunity to introduce its new executive director, Dr. Nydia Martinez, to the greater community.

Martinez was appointed executive director of the Latino Academy of Workforce Development earlier this summer after a national search. She succeeds Baltazar de Anda Santana, who has stepped down after 12 years of dedicated service to the organization. Dr. Martinez has over 10 years of leadership experience in post-secondary education and community engagement in the U.S. and Mexico, and came to the Latino Academy from Spokane, Washington, where she was Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Eastern Washington University.

The Latino Academy of Workforce Development’s mission is “to strengthen diverse communities by providing linguistically and culturally competent adult education programming that advances opportunities to ensure that individuals and families thrive socially, economically, and civically.”

The open house will feature hors d’oeuvres, beverages and a short program at 5:30 p.m.

“This is a unique opportunity to meet our passionate team, discover the transformative work happening at the Academy and connect with others who care about creating meaningful change,” the Latino Academy said in a press release announcing the open house. “We can’t wait to see you there — whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or building new partnerships, your presence will help us continue to make a difference.”

The Latino Academy of Workforce Development is located at 2909 Landmark Place in Madison.
