Brighton, N.Y. — Monroe Community College broke ground Tuesday morning on its new Advanced Technology Center.
The 110,000-square-foot center will house programs including science, engineering, math, optics, automotive technology, precision tooling, HVAC, diesel mechanics, renewable energy and more.
Officials said the $69.6 million investment will provide hands-on training for a variety of trades and emerging fields.
“Today you can’t just learn on the job,” said Rep. Joe Morelle, D-Irondequoit. “This is a complicated and difficult world, and it takes the kind of training the kind of mentorship that people will get here.”
The new on-campus center will replace MCC’s Applied Technologies Center, currently located on West Henrietta Road about 1 mile west of the school’s main campus on East Henrietta Road.
MCC received county, state and federal funding for the center, which is slated to open in fall 2026.
