At Big 12 Championships, the men had 15 scorers in 10 events to take fifth place. Mikey McClain came .001 off the conference 200m title with a school-record 20.41, while Joash Ruto took silver in the steeple with a school-record 8:25.42 behind Olympian James Corrigan from BYU. Rachel Joseph sealed the 2025 400m indoor and outdoor sweep winning the event by over a second. Joseph put up the third-fastest time of her career (50.81) and is the first Cyclone to win the outdoor 400m since Olympic gold medalist Nawal El Moutawakel in 1984, and third overall.
The top 12 in each event will advance to NCAA Championships.
In the hammer, shot put, discus and long jump, all will have three attempts to hit a top 12 mark among the field of 48. For first rounds of the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m and 400m hurdles, 24 will move on to quarterfinals dependent on heat finishes and time qualifiers. In quarterfinals, 12 will advance out.
The 5,000m will have two heats, with the top five from each heat plus the next two fastest times advancing to Eugene. The 10,000m will be one semifinal, with the top 12 punching their ticket to nationals. The steeplechase consists of three heats, with the top three from each heat plus the next three fastest times moving on to nationals.
NCAA Championships will be held Wednesday, June 11 through Saturday, June 14 in Eugene, Oregon.
