The Westville Volunteer Fire Department reported one injury after a home explosion and structure fire on Sunday

One person was taken to the hospital after a home exploded and caught fire in Westville, New York, on Sunday. The Westville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the reported explosion on County Route 19 around 9:35 a.m. Moments later, the fire was upgraded to a reported structure fire and crews learned that one person was injured. Upon arrival, firefighters from the Westville department learned that the residential building had exploded and was leveled. Crews began working to put out the fire while medical personnel began treating the person who was injured in the explosion. Malone EMS helped transport the patient to Alice Hyde Medical Center. No firefighters were injured. All crews were cleared from the scene by about 4 p.m. The cause of the explosion was not immediately available. First responders from Bangor, Bombay, Brushton, Burke, Chateaugay, Constable, Dickinson Center, Duane, Fort Covington, Hogansburg, Malone, Owls Head, and Franklin County assisted at the scene.
