Pink Lotus
976 Brady Ave., Atlanta
The owners behind 26 Thai Kitchen opened Pink Lotus, which took over the former Donetto Italian restaurant space on Brady Avenue across from Miller Union and Avize. The restaurant drills down on more regional dishes of Thailand, including those served in family homes around the country.
La Bodega
1975 Sylvan Road, Sylvan Hills
Nearly a year after announcing their intention to open La Bodega, Ken Katz and Jeannette Flores-Katz opened the Salvadoran market and pupuseria on Sylvan Road in Sylvan Hills last week. Previously located at The Met in Adair Park, La Bodega expands in Sylvan Hills, serving pupusas, sandwiches, and hot dishes, and will eventually include a small market selling fresh produce and pantry items. Bar Pilar inside Alici Oyster Bar
931 Monroe Dr., Midtown
Alici Oyster Bar in Midtown now includes a hidden-away cocktail bar. Called Bar Pilar, named for the boat in Hemingway’s novel “The Old Man and the Sea,” expect classic cocktails and a selection of bar snacks and small plates.
Van Leeuwen
Ponce City Market
National ice cream chain Van Leeuwen opens its first Atlanta location at Ponce City Market in the new four-story timber-frame building on the property.
Social Capitol American Bistro at the Origin Hotel
110 Mitchell St., South Downtown
South Downtown’s Origin Hotel opened, bringing Social Capitol American Bistro to the area’s rapidly growing restaurant scene. Social Capitol combines local ingredients and cuisine with global flavors, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Pizzaboxx ATL
72 Georgia Ave., Summerhill
Southern National and Chef Duane Nutter launched a pizza takeout and delivery service from the Summerhill restaurant. Called Pizzaboxx ATL, the in-house pizzeria features thin-crust pies with house-made sauces “with a Southern twist.” Order takeout via Toast or delivery via DoorDash.

Little Gem
2002 Summit Blvd, Brookhaven
All-day cafe Little Gem opened at Perimeter Summit serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, and cocktails.
The Harvey
5480 Peachtree Road, Chamblee
The owners of Southbound in Chamblee opened The Harvey on Peachtree Road. The sports bar features a rooftop patio and a menu with pizza, wings, corn dogs, and burgers.
Las Brasas
614 Church St., Decatur
Las Brasas in Decatur reopened after a renovation. The Peruvian restaurant, which was closed for seven months, now features an expanded menu with seating, thanks to its annexation of the former nail salon next door.
Brainwave Pizza inside Inner Voice Brewing
308 West Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur
After nearly three years inside the taproom at Inner Voice Brewing in Decatur, Glide Pizza closed at the brewery ahead of its relocation to the former Chando’s Tacos space on West Ponce. But a new pizza spot called Brainwave Pizza replaced Glide, serving sourdough crust pies by the slice and whole pizza.
Truth Be Told
1104 Canton St., Roswell
Cocktail lounge and tasting restaurant Truth Be Told opened in the former Rice Thai restaurant space on Canton Street in downtown Roswell. Reservations are open for the prix fixe menu, while walk-ins are available at the bar for à la carte food.
Vice Steak Bar
3000 Heritage Walk, Milton
Chef Nick Leahy opened Vice Steak Bar at Heritage Walk in Milton on July 1, next door to his burger joint, Smash Burger by Vice. The menu features a family-style platter serving up to six people, which comes with American wagyu and a cowboy ribeye accompanied by four side dishes and two sauces for $165.

10 North Broad St., Alpharetta
A new cocktail bar and restaurant opened next door to Lapeer Steak and Seafood in downtown Alpharetta. The food and drinks here lean tropical and beachy.
ASW Flights + Bites
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Gate B33
The Atlanta distillery opened a tasting room on B Concourse, serving bourbon, rye, and vodka flights and cocktails. The tasting room also offers a small food menu.

Krog Bar
349 Peachtree Hills Ave., Peachtree Hills
Kevin Rathbun will resurrect Krog Bar, which closed in 2020, in the space adjacent to KR Steakbar in Buckhead. Earlier this year, Rathbun filed an alcohol license permit for the space, sparking rumors about a potential pizza restaurant. Rough Draft reached out to Rathbun at the time of the permit request for Krog Bar, but did not receive a response.
The Grove at Monday Night Brewing
670 Trabert Ave., Berkeley Park
The original location of Monday Night Brewing in Berkeley Park will debut its expansion on August 23, coinciding with the opening of the new northwest section of the Beltline. Called The Grove, expect a taproom, patio, and an amphitheater-style outdoor space located adjacent to the new section of the pedestrian trail that connects Northside Drive with Howell Mill Road.
Buddy Buddy
931 Monroe Dr., Midtown
Taking over Tapa Tapa at Midtown Promenade, veteran Atlanta bartender Nick Chaivarlis will open Buddy Buddy cocktail bar later this fall, which will also pay homage to his Greek heritage on the food menu. Stay tuned for a story from Rough Draft Dining Editor Beth McKibben.
Big Softie
405 North Angier Ave., Old Fourth Ward
The third location of soft serve ice cream shop Big Softie, from Little Tart Bakeshop owner Sarah O’Brien, will open soon near 3 Parks Wine Shop and the Forth Hotel in the Old Fourth Ward. Located on North Angier Avenue, Big Softie becomes the latest addition to the New City development taking shape along the Eastside Beltline. The owners behind Lucian Books and Wine will open Sargent next spring beside 3 Parks Wine Shop at the complex.
Sugar Loaf
780 Memorial Dr., Reynoldstown
Popular pop-up and farmers market biscuit stall Sugar Loaf will open in the former Chick n’ Cone space later this year near La Semilla in Reynoldstown. The restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch, including Sugar Loaf’s sought-after biscuits, like the tasso ham and cheese on an Ethiopian-spiced dabo biscuit. Spina Pizza
Atlanta Dairies on Memorial Drive, Reynoldtown
Located adjacent to Small Fry at Atlanta Dairies on Memorial Drive, Anthony Spina Jr. will make his Neapolitan pizza pop-up permanent this fall. Spina is aiming for a November opening, but you can catch him slinging his vodka parm fried chicken sandwiches and other fried delights next door at Small Fry until then.
VoiceBox Bar at Peoplestown Coffee
55 Milton Ave., Peoplestown
A new cocktail bar will officially open on August 6 inside Peoplestown Coffee for evening drinks.
Yay! Beignet
755 Virginia Ave., College Park
Following a move to Macon last year, popular Irwin Street Market stall Yay! Beignet will return to Metro Atlanta, opening alongside Jake’s Ice Cream and other vendors like The Cooking School in College Park. Jake’s Ice Cream and The Cooking School owner, Jake Rothschild, also owns Irwin Street Market in the Old Fourth Ward. It’s unclear what will be on the menu beyond beignets and Ethiopian coffee drinks at the new Yay! Beignet location in College Park. The Macon location featured a smattering of both Cajun and Ethiopian dishes.
Jinya Ramen Bar
1013 Alpharetta St., Roswell,
Another location of Jinya Ramen Bar opens Aug. 4, this time in Roswell. Located on Alpharetta Street in downtown Roswell, Jinya will offer the first 100 guests during the grand opening free ramen on their next visit.
