FORT WORTH – TCU’s presence will permeate the pacific northwest over the coming days.

Kirstin Angosta, Yvette O’Brien and Meagan Winans qualified for the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, held from Aug. 4-10 at the legendary Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

All three Horned Frogs won their respective qualifiers to book their visits to the southern Oregon coast.

Angosta and O’Brien are making their tournament debuts.

A rising junior, Angosta finished as the co-medalist at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship Qualifier at Salisbury Country Club on June 19 in North Carolina. She carded a two-under 69.

O’Brien earned an exemption after placing first at the 60th Connecticut Women’s Amateur on July 16. The soon-to-be freshman Frog concluded the 54-hole affair plus-two (215) and won by a 14-stroke margin. O’Brien maintained a double-digit stroke lead throughout rounds two and three.

Winans played her qualifier at Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas, and shot a 69 (-3) to finish two strokes clear of the field. She is making her second career appearance at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, having first competed in 2023. Winans concluded her collegiate eligibility in May and will graduate from TCU with her bachelor’s degree in sociology in December.

The TCU trio are three of 156 competitors entered in the field. The U.S. Women’s Amateur commences with 36 holes of stroke play qualification over the first two days. The low 64 scorers advance to match play. The championship match is contested over two rounds. NBC Golf Channel will provide live coverage of all five days of match play in dedicated three-hour programming blocks.

The tournament, along with British Women’s Amateur Championship, is considered the highest honor in women’s amateur golf. The winner receives exemptions into four-of-five LPGA major championships in 2026, including the U.S. Open.

Tee times and live scoring are available at Championships.USGA.org.
