- Taiwanese boba tea chain Yi Fang has opened its first Arizona location.
- The chain’s signature fruit tea is based on a pineapple jam recipe developed by the founder’s grandmother.
A Taiwanese boba chain known for its fruit tea made its Arizona debut in Tempe. Yi Fang opened in late July near Arizona State University, in the space formerly occupied by Taiwan Mama.
Yi Fang operates hundreds of stores in the United States, Asia, Australia and Europe. The company’s name was inspired by the founder’s grandmother, who married a pineapple farmer and developed a recipe for turning overripe pineapples into jam, according to Yi Fang’s website. That jam is the basis of Yi Fang’s signature fruit tea drink, which is also made with passion fruit, apples and oranges.
A Phoenix location is on the horizon, according to the company’s website, which lists a Phoenix Yi Fang as “to be announced.”
