Fallen first responders honored in Boston on Memorial Day
AND THEY’RE OFF. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! NEARLY 10,000 RUNNERS HITTING THE PAVEMENT FOR BOSTON’S RUN TO REMEMBER. I THINK THE CAUSE IS AMAZING AND, YOU KNOW, SO SUPPORTIVE OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS. I ALWAYS LOOKING FORWARD TO HELP THEM, TO SHOW THEM THE RESPECT THAT THEY DESERVE. ALL THEY DID FOR US AND THAT WE REMEMBER THEM WITH EACH STEP. THESE RUNNERS ARE PAYING TRIBUTE TO FIRST RESPONDERS LOST IN THE LINE OF DUTY. AND FOR MANY, IT’S PERSONAL. ACTUALLY, I SAW IT ONLINE AND I SIGNED UP AND THEN TWO MONTHS LATER, MY UNCLE PASSED AND I KNEW IT WAS A SIGN FOR ME TO BE HERE TODAY. JESSICA KILMARTIN’S UNCLE WAS A FIREFIGHTER IN NEW YORK, AND TODAY SHE HONORS HIM. HE WAS JUST THE GREATEST GUY. IT DIDN’T MATTER WHAT HAPPENED. HE WAS JUST FULL OF LIFE, ALWAYS SMILING. RENEE FUENTES ALWAYS RUNS WITH THE AMERICAN FLAG TO HONOR THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. THIS, THIS THIS FLAG BELONGS TO A FRIEND OF MINE, CHRIS MARTIN. AND THESE ARE FALLEN INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE FALLEN. WE GOT A FIRE DEPARTMENT AND BLUE FOR FOR THE POLICE. AND THEN THERE’S MAX HALPER FROM NEW JERSEY, WHO SHARED WHY HE RUNS IN HIS GEAR. BECAUSE IT’S A CHALLENGE AND BECAUSE IT IT HELPS REPRESENT, YOU KNOW, WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO GO THROUGH. RUNNERS COULD CHOOSE BETWEEN A HALF MARATHON AND A FIVE MILE RACE, BUT NO MATTER THE DISTANCE, THE PURPOSE IS THE SAME. THEY GIVE OUT SO MUCH AND IT’S TIME TO HONOR THEM A LITTLE BIT. AND I FEEL LIKE THIS RACE IS A GREAT RECOGNITION AND TO GIVE BACK SUCH AN INSPIRING SHOW OF SUPPORT OUT HERE AND A REALLY INCREDIBLE WAY TO THANK AND REMEMBER THOSE WHO PROTECT US EVERY DAY I
