The Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is set to unveil its latest feather in the cap this Friday with the opening of the Carolyn & Kem Gardner Learning & Leadership Building. Amidst the bittersweet blend of celebration and solemn remembrance, the event’s beginning has been postponed by two hours, now commencing at 2:15 p.m., in a gesture to honor the local hero and fallen alumnus, Sergeant Lee Sorensen. Attending his funeral services held at 10 a.m. the same day in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum necessitated the delay, according to USU Today.

In a similar mark of respect, the Huntsman School had previously adjusted its schedule to accommodate the service of another local hero, Officer Eric Estrada, whose funeral took place at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same venue. With the new 45,000-square-foot facility boasting dedicated spaces for student internships, industry projects, and professional development, the Huntsman business community looks to advance its commitment to hands-on learning and leadership cultivation.

The Gardner Learning & Leadership Building represents a transformative addition to the Huntsman School of Business, the business school proclaimed in its announcement of the grand opening. Boasting a plethora of resources for students, the building serves as a hub for experiential learning and corporate partnerships.

With its focus on practical experience, the facility is poised to be a cornerstone in the school’s educational mission. Shifting gears towards an applied learning approach, the Utah State University community and its benefactors relish the opportunity to see the fruition of such a crucial educational space, which, once doors are open, is expected to bolster the bridge between theoretical knowledge and real-world application substantially.
