The NFL announced 28 waiver claims on Wednesday morning, but no players were awarded to the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos did lose two players on the waiver wire: cornerback Damarri Mathis was picked up by the Carolina Panthers and undrafted rookie offensive lineman Xavier Truss was claimed by the New Orleans Saints.
Denver previously made 38 roster moves to get down to an initial 53-man roster. That initial squad now remains intact after no new additions from the waiver wire. That could be good news for fullback Adam Prentice, who re-signed on the team’s practice squad.
The Broncos were believed to be in the market for a fullback after losing Michael Burton to a hamstring injury. After not bringing in another fullback, Denver might be counting on Prentice to handle those duties, at least initially.
With waiver claims processed, the Broncos are now focused on building a 16-player practice squad. We are tracking all of Denver’s practice squad signings on Broncos Wire.
