Los Angeles’s restaurants continue to face difficult headwinds, starting in 2020 with the onset of a global pandemic and exacerbating with the Hollywood labor strikes in 2023, which led to an industry-wide slowdown that’s continued into 2025. From the lingering impacts of the Hollywood strikes to increased costs (labor, rent, ingredients, etc.), many variables continue to batter restaurant owners who operate on razor-thin margins. Los Angeles restaurants also continue to struggle with the impact of the 2025 fires, including slow business and devastating property loss, as well as the ongoing effects of ICE enforcement. Here are notable restaurant closures for July. For more closure news, read our past closure coverage.

Rosaline— West Hollywood modern Peruvian restaurant Rosaline ends its run on Melrose this month after eight years. Chef Ricardo Zarate opened the restaurant in June 2017 in the former Comme Ca space with a menu of ceviches, large-format meat dishes, and plenty of seafood.

Amour— After less than two years, upscale West Hollywood French restaurant Amour is in its last days. The restaurant, which opened in December 2023, will close at the end of August. During its run, Amour served a menu of French and Japanese-inflected cuisine from chef Dany Chavez-Bello (formerly of Spain’s El Bullí and New York City’s Bouley) and chef de cuisine Hendrix Vega.

Union— Union located inside Compound, a nonprofit cultural and community space with an art gallery in the Zaferia neighborhood, suddenly closed its doors this month. The restaurant opened in February 2024 with a Filipino-inflected menu of dishes like fried chicken tucked into bao buns and steak served with a golden raisin chile crisp from chef Eugene Santiago.
