It looks like Erewhon has its eyes on Dallas.
The famous grocer said on Instagram that “The Taste of Erewhon” is “shipping to your city” — and included maps of several cities, with one of them highlighting Dallas and including regions beyond the core city.
It’s not clear what “The Taste of Erewhon” is exactly and what the time frame will be. A message left with the company wasn’t immediately returned.
On Monday, Erewhon’s chief growth officer, Kabir Jain, discussed the upscale specialty chain’s plans to enter new markets at the Groceryshop conference in Las Vegas, according to GroceryDive. There, Jain said that over the next three years, the “small but mighty chain” plans to build five stores. It aims to not only expand across Southern California but also venture into new markets like Northern California and then “further east across the country,” Jain said, without providing specifics, according to the report.
Earlier this month, Erewhon confirmed on Instagram that it is opening a tonic bar at an incoming private members club in New York City, GroceryDive said. The club will let members order in person at the Erewhon tonic bar, while nonmembers will be able to access the smoothies and juices via the Uber and Postmates delivery apps, according to the club’s website.
Erewhon, which has several stores in the Los Angeles area, is known for its cool, high-end items that include smoothies that can cost over $20 and $18 vegan granola. It’s attracted the attention of musicians and actors — and there’s even a TikTok account dedicated to celebrity sightings at the grocer. An article in The New York Times in 2021 called it “L.A.’s Hottest Hangout.”
The Dallas region has continued to draw retailers from around the country and the world as its population has grown and its business community has become more dynamic. In the past few years, the region has added a Prada location, a Kith — and several of Texas’ own H-E-B locales.
