New East Dallas bagel shop Bagel Bros will officially start selling breakfast on Garland Road on Oct. 11, 2025.

As the name suggests, the shop is run by brothers Johnny and Ruben Gomez, who are Casa Linda residents.

Johnny Gomez, a former electrician, ate his first bagel only a few years ago, when he started working at nearby East Dallas shop Benny’s Bagels. His brother Ruben Gomez had worked at the Skillman Road business since 2013, starting as a dishwasher and eventually buying the restaurant in 2017.

The Gomezes no longer own or operate Benny’s. In their new bagel venture, they’re converting a former wine bar on Garland Road into a breakfast hangout.

Their menu will include over a dozen flavors of bagels, including everything, Asiago, sesame, French toast and more. Cream cheeses are expected to vary from classics like veggie or strawberry to more nuanced options like honey-almond-apricot and Fruity Pebbles.

Bagels are kettle-boiled, then sprinkled with seasonings and baked.

The brothers plan to add biscuits, croissants and wraps, Johnny Gomez said during a walkthrough of the coming-soon bagel shop.

East Dallas has been a popular spot for new breakfast shops recently. Others that have opened in the past few years include Cafe Duro, Abby’s Bagels, Ascension Coffee, Lubbies Bagels and Lubellas Patisserie.

“I’m looking forward to connecting with customers,” Johnny Gomez said of opening a business in his East Dallas neighborhood.

Bagel Bros is expected to open at 9219 Garland Road, Dallas, on Oct. 11, 2025.
