CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Sailing Team had an excellent weekend on the water, taking victories in both team races, a third-place finish at the Oberg Trophy, and a top 10 finish at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals.

The Eagles began at the Norman Reid Team Race, hosted at the Savin Hill Yacht Club, where they finished in first place with a perfect 12-0 record. Led by skippers Ryan McGauley, Alex Lech, and Cody Roe, and skippers Madeline Torrey, Kennedy Laureigh, and Lauren Leonard, the team went on to win all three rounds against Brandeis, Brown, Harvard, and Tufts. It is their third win of the season and first in a regatta that Boston College hosts.

The team followed with another team race, this time at Tufts’ Lane Trophy TR Sunday afternoon. Sailed by skippers Ryan McGauley, Aidan Cunningham, and Roger Casellas, along with crews Madeline Torrey, Kylie Craig, Paige Roby, Boston College was able to earn another win, finishing the regatta with a 9-1 record. They were able to secure the team race win after going a perfect 5-0 in the final round.

At Northeastern, the team challenged for the Oberg Trophy. The A Division Boat with skipper Peter Joslin and crew Brooke Bergendahl started strong, finishing second with 21 points. Skipper Tor Svendsen and crew Abbie Catalano led the B Division boat, scoring 33 points for seventh, and C Division finished fourth, as skipper James O’Gwen and crew Emily Marlas recorded 29 points.

The Eagles concluded the weekend at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals in Annapolis. The A Division boat, which included skipper Peter Busch and crews Jack Redmond, Caroline Sibilly, Lanie Ferrarone, Brendan Peary, and Damien Bocan, finished in 17th place with 174 points after action was delayed due to a lack of wind. B Division, skippered by Tanner Krygsveld and crewed by Christian Yanoti and Brendan Peary, followed with a strong seventh-place finish after accumulating 109 points. Their combined score of 283 points was good for tenth place overall.

Boston College continues its season with the Nickerson trophy, Urn Trophy and Schell Trophy next weekend, all taking place across October 25-26.
