OHIO — After combining for just 27 total points in the regular season, Fairfield and Mason easily topped those numbers in a high-scoring Ohio High School Athletic Association Game of the Week on Spectrum News 1.
On just the second play from scrimmage, the Indians’ Gabe Ross served notice that this rematch would be nothing like the 14-13 (in overtime) version won by Fairfield back in week seven. He raced 80-yards for the opening score, and had another 74-yarder reach the end zone sandwhiched around AJ Brown’s 80-yard touchdown, all happening in the first quarter.
The Comets hung around, cashing in on their own big plays, but in the end Ross and Brown’s seven combined touchdowns were too much in the 46-41 Fairfield victory.
The eighth-seeded Indians (6-5) face a tall order next week, heading to Elder to play the undfeated and top-seeded Panthers at The Pit.
Mason wrapped up a 5-6 campaign in 2025.
