He will lead its NextGen News Technology Lab

Josh Miely is returning to a more hands-on radio and TV role with the National Association of Broadcasters.

Miely was named NAB’s vice president of technology, programming and education. He transitions out of his NAB Show production team role, as he held the title of vice president of content design and development.

For Miely, it’s a return to his roots. His 18-year tenure at the association includes time as director of radio operations.

In his new role, Miely will support its work on educational initiatives and projects alongside John Clark and Sam Matheny in NAB’s technology department. Miely told Radio World that he aims to highlight the work its technical department does for the broadcast industry.

Much of Miely’s new focus will be on the NextGen News Technology Lab initiative that NAB announced back in August. But he expects to spend ample time with radio members, as well.

He reminds Radio World readers that a call for papers remains open until Nov. 14 for the Broadcast Engineering and IT Conference at the spring NAB Show.

Miely worked in the radio industry before coming to NAB, including for two years with the former Maryland-based MTS Broadcasting stations on the Delmarva peninsula.
