Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal released a video statement to clarify the department’s policy regarding the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in the city’s courthouses — an issue that has raised questions among residents, community organizations, and people who use the judicial system.
In her message, Bilal emphasized that the Sheriff’s Office does not collaborate with ICE on immigration enforcement operations. She stated that deputies “do not assist, do not share information, and do not participate in immigration enforcement activities,” reiterating that the agency’s primary mission inside the courthouses is to ensure safety and the proper functioning of judicial proceedings.
Here is the video of her statement.
