SAN DIEGO, CA — The list of the most popular baby names in San Diego County for 2025 underscores the growing influence of Latino heritage in one of California’s most diverse regions. Newly released data from the San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office shows that Spanish-language and culturally rooted names continue to gain prominence alongside long-standing classics.

Names such as Santiago, Mateo, Camila, Sofia and Valentina ranked among the county’s Top 10 baby names, reflecting the deep cultural ties and demographic strength of Latino families across San Diego County.

“As the official record holder of San Diegans’ most important life moments, it’s meaningful to see how birth records tell the story of our community,” said Jordan Z. Marks, San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk. “These names reflect the families, cultures and traditions that define who we are as a county.”

County officials noted that while names like Emma, Noah and Olivia continue to stand the test of time, the strong presence of Spanish and bilingual names highlights San Diego’s close cultural connection to Latin America and its border-region identity.

The Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office records thousands of births each year, safeguarding vital records that document the county’s evolving identity through generations. San Diego County is home to more than 3.3 million residents, with Latino communities playing a central role in its cultural and social fabric.
