Miami Hurricanes star quarterback Carson Beck
The Miami Hurricanes and standout quarterback Carson Beck came up just short in the National Championship on Monday night against the Indiana Hoosiers, falling by a final score of 27-21.
While the loss was heartbreaking, Miami put up a fight. Despite facing extremely unlikely odds entering the College Football Playoff, the Hurricanes showed why they ended up being the second-best team in the country this season.
Now that the season has come to an end, change is coming for Miami. Beck has played his final college season and will be headed off to the 2026 NFL Draft.
Beck made a major impact during his lone season with the Hurricanes. After transferring to Miami from the Georgia Bulldogs, he lived up to the hype and the amount of NIL funding that the Hurricanes put into getting him.
Throughout the course of the 2025 season, Beck completed 72.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also ran for 43 yards and two more scores.
Miami QB Carson Beck Lands Brutal NFL Player Comparison
As his focus turns towards the upcoming NFL Draft, Beck has received a brutal comparison to a current quarterback playing at the professional level.
CBS Sports analyst Josh Edwards has revealed that he believes Beck is a similar player to Houston Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills.
“Carson Beck is in that tier of quarterback where he’s probably a backup who could occasionally step in and start for an organization. There are a number of players who fit those criteria, including Mac Jones, Aidan O’Connell and Davis Mills,” Edwards wrote.
“Beck has a wealth of experience throughout his time with Georgia and now Miami. He struggles when under pressure and has a tendency to throw the ball into coverage, but he’s capable of playing on time within a disciplined offensive structure.”
That isn’t to say that Mills hasn’t created a successful career for himself. However, the idea of Beck becoming a starting NFL quarterback would take a huge hit if his career plays out how Mills’ has.
Potential Landing Spots for Carson Beck in the NFL Draft
Looking ahead at the 2026 draft, there are quite a few teams around the NFL who could use help at the quarterback position. Most of them would be looking for Beck to come in as a backup and provide depth to start his career.
Among the team who could make sense for Beck are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Jets.
There are other teams who could be added to that list as well. Beck will have no shortage of teams who could consider selecting him at some point during the draft.
What round will Beck be selected in? That remains a big question mark.
More than likely, Beck will end up being selected in the third or fourth round. He could be drafted slightly higher or later, depending on how the draft falls. Beck is a talented quarterback, although it’s unlikely that NFL teams view him as a long-term starter.
Regardless of where he ends up, all Beck needs is a chance. Wherever he ends up going, he’ll need to work hard to get on the field. It will be interesting to see what his future has in store.
