An open letter to the Red Flower Campaign from the BSO’s Scottish principal flute, Lorna McGhee:
Witnessing the groundswell of support for Andris and the orchestra since March 6th has been truly inspiring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Speaking for myself (although I know many of my colleagues feel the same way) please know that voting to ratify the contract should in no way be equated with normalizing or disregarding what happened to Andris and the orchestra. There are simply limits to what labor law can and cannot do. I am proud of what our Players Committee was able to achieve in our recent contract.
As the season starts, please continue to support Andris in all his concerts, and stand up for the art form we all love.
