A San Antonio taquería praised for serving some of Texas’ best al pastor tacos is headed to the North Side. El Pastor es Mi Señor is opening a second location at 19211 Huebner Rd in Stone Oak, confirms co-owner Brenda Sarmiento.
Brenda and sibling Alex Sarmiento got a rocky start to their business, opening just four days before the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns closed dining rooms throughout the city. Since then, they have built a cult following, especially from critics.
In 2022, Texas Monthly Taco Editor José R. Ralat endorsed the restaurant, later including it on the publication’s list of the top 23 taquerias in Alamo City. In 2025, the pair nabbed a James Beard semifinalist nod for Best Chef: Texas.
More recently, CultureMap San Antonio awarded the restaurant Tastemaker Awards nominations for the Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year categories.
Via text, Brenda says they decided to open the new Stone Oak spot because their strong following included tons of North Side fans.
“Stone Oak is a growing community that appreciates quality and authenticity, and we’re really excited to share our ‘estilo CDMX’ tacos with a new neighborhood,” she says.
Although the anticipation is building, Brenda says the restaurant doesn’t yet have an official opening date.
“Waiting on final inspections,” she says, “but almost there!”
