The American Federation for Children (AFC) commends Linda McMahon on standing with the nation’s parents during her nomination hearing. “I believe,” Ms. McMahon said, “that the best education is closest to the child, and not in Washington, DC.” We call on the Senate to confirm her swiftly as secretary of the Department of Education.
Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children:
“I was honored to be in attendance to hear Linda McMahon make a strong, compelling case for the type of reform our nation’s education system so desperately needs. I was not surprised that Senators opposing her confirmation on the committee avoided discussion of the devastating and grisly national test results that prove our education system is in an undeclared state of emergency. Something has to change. As Ms. McMahon affirmed, she and President Trump are strong supporters of school choice and returning control of education to the states and families. We must work together to make school choice and education freedom a reality for all families, especially lower-income families, across the country. We are eager to support her confirmation as Secretary of Education and work together for the next four years.”
