The New York Jets’ AFC East rival in the Miami Dolphins made another trade following their blockbuster deal earlier this week.
In a trade with the New York Giants, tight end Darren Waller was sent to Miami as the 32-year-old as decided to unretire.
In exchange for Waller, the Dolphins sent the Giants a 2026 sixth-round pick. New York gave up a seventh rounder to Miami as well.
The deal for Waller is extra interesting as he was previously retired after the 2023 season. Previously with the Las Vegas Raiders, Waller had a combined 197 receptions for 2,341 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns with the Raiders in 2019 and 2020. Waller was considered one of the NFL’s best tight ends at that time.
Earlier this week, Miami completed a massive trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers as the Dolphins shipped out three-time Pro Bowler cornerback Jalen Ramsey and landed safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Miami also traded tight end Jonnu Smith in the trade and Waller will replace him.
