New Delhi: Massive controversy erupted as MMA fighter Kiru Singh Sahota changed his nationality to the United Kingdom after taking part as an Indian fighter in the Road to UFC tournament. It all started when Kiru was denied to hold the Indian flag in the photo shoot before his first fight in the tournament, and then UFC India deleted his post from all the social media handles. UFC India has promoted Kiru earlier but reports claim that he supports Khalistan that why he refused to hold the Indian flag.
The first round of the Road to UFC tournament was organised in Shanghai, China and this event is all for Asian MMA fighters only but Kiru used his Indian nationality to participate in this event and now after participating he changed his nationality to a UK-born MMA fighter.
Kiru won his first fight against China’s Yin Shuai with a split decision and now faces Ruel Panales in the semifinal whose first bout was cancelled due to the opponent didn’t make the weights.
Angad Bisht enters semi-final
India’s Angad Bisht also secured his place in the semifinal, after beating John Dave Almanza in the first round by Knockout. In the fight, Almanza came out guns blazing and threw his punches but the power and strength of Bisht were too much for the Philippines’ fighter, Bisht forced Almanza to the canvas, worked his way to a good position, and began unloading a torrent of strikes, ultimately securing the stoppage in the first round itself.
Angad is now the heavy favourite to win the tournament. Angad can become the third Indian fighter to fight in the UFC.
If all goes well it will be a hell of a match between Angad Bisht vs Kiru Sahota in the finals and fans from India can’t wait to witness the match.
