PHOENIX — Ahead of the Labor Day holiday, American Airlines introduced its connection-saving technology at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
According to the airline, the tech was made to help customers reach their connecting flights by proposing “a short hold” while not negatively affecting “the airline’s overall schedule.”
It was first made available this summer at other international hubs like Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and has now made its way to Valley flight service.
So far, the connection-saving tech has preserved seats for thousands of its customers while imposing an averaged hold time of 10 minutes of less.
For the first time in its short history, the tech will now send a notification to American Airlines customers if their connecting flight is holding its departure.
“With our new connection-saving technology and investments in the customer journey, American is ready to welcome customers who will be traveling through Sky Harbor this weekend,” Vice President of American Airlines’ PHX operations Sophia Philis-Ortiz said in a press release.

American Airlines said more than 1,300 flights with operate out of Sky Harbor from Thursday to the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Thursday was expected to be the busiest day with almost 245 departures on the airlines’ docket.
The airline had a few more scheduled flights (279) on the Sunday of July 4th weekend.
