A new daily Amtrak Pacific Surfliner roundtrip service between Los Angeles and San Luis Obispo will launch on May 4, several partner agencies announced Monday.
The LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency, the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) and the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments said the new train service aims to improve regional mobility by expanding commuter and leisure traveler options for riders along California’s Central Coast.
With this additional roundtrip service, Pacific Surfliner will now offer a total of six daily trips to Goleta and three daily trips to San Luis Obispo.
The agencies said this will improve regional connectivity between LA, Ventura County, Santa Barbara and SLO during peak weekday travel periods.
“We’re making it easier for residents and workers to move throughout the region,” said VCTC Executive Director Martin Erickson in a press release.
Riders can plan their trips through the Pacific Surfliner website.
Pacific Surfliner travels 351 miles along the Southern California coastline connecting San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Along the way, the train serves 29 stations, making it the second busiest state-supported intercity passenger rail route in the U.S.
By the way, for those looking to travel by train to the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Los Angeles this June and July, Pacific Surfliner is offering a 20% discount off fares for travel between May 1 and July 15.
