APPLETON – American Airlines will offer a new direct flights to Phoenix from Appleton International Airport (ATW), airport officials announced.
The flights begin on Saturday and will run on Saturdays through May 3, according to an airport press release. It will be the 19th direct route offered through Appleton.
Relatedly, Allegiant will resume its seasonal nonstop to Savannah, Georgia/Hilton Head, North Carolina Friday. The Savannah route will fly people to the warm weather destination twice per week through May, then once weekly on Saturdays though Aug. 12. Allegiant has 12 nonstop flights to warm weather destinations, and will add 30% more seats in the first half of this year compared to 2024.
“These routes are providing northeast Wisconsin residents greater options when they’re traveling,” said Abe Weber, airport director in the release. “The days of driving two or three hours for convenient flights are behind us as we continue to offer more direct routes.”
At the same time, Weber revealed that a record number of passengers flew out of and into Appleton International Airport in 2024, continuing a multi-year growth trend. The official travel number for 2024 was 1,088,980. The milestone stands as a 12.5% increase over 2023, when the airport served 967,867 passengers, and a 112% increase in traffic since 2015.

Weber said the passengers come from beyond the Fox Valley, coming to Appleton from across Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Appleton International Airport is served by American, Delta, United Airlines and Allegiant Airlines. Other non-stop flight destinations including Nashville, Tennessee; a variety of Florida cities; Atlanta; Denver; and New York/Newark, New Jersey.
