The Poisoned Pen is a community staple in the Valley, giving mystery readers a space dedicated to their beloved genre and hosting one-of-a-kind events.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — If you’re a reader in Scottsdale, chances are you’re familiar with The Poisoned Pen Bookstore.
The independent bookstore focuses on mystery and thriller titles, but features literary fiction, historical fiction, romance, YA, and many other genres on its shelves, too.
It was founded in 1989 by Barbara Peters and has since become a Valley staple, hosting in-person and online events for local and international authors alike, and featuring many signed first editions, too.
On Friday, the bookstore will celebrate 36 years of reading and community. Readers can come to the store from 6 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 3 to party with staff members, share their favorite memories at the Pen, and eat cake. Plus, one lucky winner will walk away with a $100 gift certificate!
