BOSTON – The Boston University women’s basketball program has hired Moneshia Davis as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season, head coach Melissa Graves formally announced on Thursday (Oct. 2).

“I am thrilled to welcome Moneshia to our coaching staff,” said Graves. “She brings a wealth of experience from playing Division I basketball to over 10 years of teaching and mentorship of young women on and off the court. Mo is not just a great coach and proven winner; she is someone who cares deeply about developing relationships with everyone around her. I am excited to witness her guidance toward our student-athletes.”

Davis arrives to Terrier Town following two seasons as an assistant at Johns Hopkins. During her tenure, the Blue Jays posted a 50-9 record, going 32-2 in Centennial Conference play and reaching the Division III NCAA Tournament Round of 16 in both years. Johns Hopkins earned nine total All-Centennial Conference awards during Davis’ tenure.

Prior to her time at Johns Hopkins, Davis was an assistant and interim head coach at Goucher College in Towson, Md. for the 2022-23 campaign. There, she was responsible for implementing defensive strategies and leading the recruiting process while assisting with player development, practice plans, scouting reports and off-season workouts.

Davis began her coaching career with CCBC-Catonsville in Maryland as an associate head coach. Her recruiting efforts led to two all-conference honorable mentions and multiple student-athletes earning offers to four-year institutions with scholarships. She also served as a coach at Bowie State University, Garrison Forest High School and the Bryn Mawr School, all in the Maryland area.

Davis is a two-time graduate of Morgan State, where she played over 100 career games for the women’s basketball program. She averaged nearly five points and 3.7 rebounds per game in career while making 181 baskets and swiping 166 steals. She averaged 5.7 points across a career-high 31 games as a sophomore in 2010-11, when she was a second team Morgan State All-Academic Team honoree and helped the Bears reach the WNIT. That year, she was a DePaul Maggie Dixon Class All-Tournament selection after nearly recording the school’s second career triple-double with 16 points, 10 steals, nine rebounds and four assists vs. Northwestern State.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Davis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Morgan State in 2012 and a master’s degree in education in 2020.
