LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Athletics owner John Fisher says he now has a home in Summerlin.

He says a Las Vegas patch will be on the A’s uniform.

And Fisher notes the A’s and their local booster — the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors public tourism agency — already have a sponsorship deal.

Fisher said the A’s are really coming and that the construction at the site on the Strip will really be happening.

The man looked happy when talking about the A’s in Las Vegas in 2028. He received $380 million in public government assistance under a 2023 state bill to help build his $1.75 billion, domed, 33,000-fan stadium at the site of the former Tropicana hotel-casino.

No matter the question from the media, Fisher just expressed how happy he was for the A’s to be coming to Las Vegas. The A’s will play at a Triple-A ballpark in West Sacramento in 2025, 2026 and 2027 while the stadium is built on nine acres on a 35-acre site at the southeast corner of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

The “Las Vegas” patch will appear on our sleeve for all home, road and alternate jerseys during the regular season and postseason games. It’s a three-year deal. The LVCVA is paying:

2025 – $2,500,000
2026 – $2,750,000
2027 – $3,000,000

As the “Official Destination Partner of the A’s,” the MLB club and LVCVA will collaborate on a variety of marketing initiatives designed to bring the Las Vegas experience to fans both at the ballpark and online.

Fisher on A’s manager Mark Kotsay, signed through 2028 — the A’s first year in Las Vegas:

The media event was staged at the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center Friday at 4:30PM.

Steve “Man of Many Hats” Hill enjoyed sitting next to owner Fisher.

Hill worked hard at getting the state Legislature to approve the A’s stadium subsidy bill in 2023 that gives the Athletics $380 million in public finances from bonds to tax credits. Then the A’ appeared before the Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board and there was Hill again — as chairman of the public panel that supposedly reviews the A’s stadium plans and makes sure the stadium complies with the state-approved bill.

Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said the A’s stadium site on the Strip “will work in spades.”
