Associate, Media Relations 

 

DEPARTMENT: Communications & Media Relations

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Communications and Media Relations 

FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt 

 

Description:

Built upon our storied legacy, the New York Yankees look to attract the best possible talent not just on the field but in the front office as well. It is our shared responsibility to maintain the first-class reputation associated with the franchise in all aspects of our business.

This Associate, Media Relations role will have varied responsibilities across the department, significantly supporting baseball information efforts, corporate/business communications and internal communications. This role will also engage with media credentialing.

This position requires regular attendance in-person at Yankee Stadium, including games (weekday and weekend).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide significant, daily contributions to baseball information efforts, including proofing/writing pregame notes, postgame notes, press releases, and preseason and postseason media guide.
  • Produce and/or edit scorecards, rosters, seating charts and other press box materials for each home game.
  • Aid departmental interns with daily game day tasks, included but not limited to, making copies, delivering materials to executives and handling microphones in press conferences.
  • Assist in creating and distributing all media credentials (daily and full season) for all Yankee Stadium events, including (but not limited to) regular season and postseason baseball games, HOPE Week, football games, concerts, and community events.
  • Assist with weekly Internal Comms distribution, compiling newsworthy items, layout and editing.
  • Contribute to corporate communications press releases and related events
  • Support community-related press releases and projects, including post-event recaps for media.
  • Compilation of department clips packet several times a week.
  • Will frequently be stationed at the press gate for games and events to distribute credentials and answer general media logistical questions.
  • Work with Stadium Operations on media procedures and security needs for the media side of events (non-baseball events with fans, community initiatives, etc.).
  • Handle and respond to phone calls from fans/media/alumni.
  • Handle general office duties and miscellaneous tasks meant to aid departmental fluidity.
  • Assist in all facets of HOPE Week (writing, editing, and drafting press releases; honoree selection, planning of events, work with players and field staff, coordination of media RSVPs, organization of gift bags, etc.)

 

 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Major/concentration in media relations/communications a plus. DO NOT apply for this position if you are still in school. 
  • Prior demonstrated experience producing in-depth sports-information material (i.e. game notes, media guides, etc.) with a team in MLB, Minor League Baseball, the NFL, NBA, NHL or with a major college SID office is required. Minimum of two years prior experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and communicate ideas in a dynamic organization
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with the willingness to work long, non-traditional hours on a regular basis 
  • Ability to think strategically while prioritizing to meet deadlines
  • Explicit attention to detail; creativity and resourcefulness 
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Knowledge of social media communication fundamentals 
  • Knowledge of baseball, including terminology and rules. Knowledge of Yankees history a plus 
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Word, and Excel. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
  • Proficiency using Baseball-Reference.com, Statspass, and the MLB Portal (or similar platforms).

The salary for this position is $50,000/year. This position runs from April 2026 to March 2027.
