If you’re looking for fun, food, and fireworks, then metro Atlanta is the place to be this 4th of July. We’ve rounded up some can’t-miss events.
Atlanta
Independence Day kicks off with the 56th running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race with more than 51,000 participants this year. The world’s largest 10K sprints from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park starting at 6:50 a.m.
Celebrate the Fourth of July at The Roof at Ponce City Market from 3 p.m. to midnight on Friday, complete with festive red, white and blue decorations, classic carnival bites and an array of entertainment – boardwalk games, rides and a new rooftop roller skating rink – all day long, plus a panoramic view of fireworks across Atlanta’s skyline after sunset.
The Little 5 Points Community Center is hosting its Old-Fashioned July 4th Picnic on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will have lawn games, watermelon slices, music from WRFG, and plenty of porch-style socializing. Bring a dish to share for the potluck.
Decatur and DeKalb
The annual Pied Piper Parade, Concert & Fireworks is Friday in downtown Decatur. The parade steps off at 6 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Decatur and ends at the community greenspace at the corner of Commerce Drive and Trinity Place. Live music will follow from 7 to 9 p.m. with fireworks at sunset.
Stone Mountain Park will host the annual Fantastic Fourth Celebration tonight through July 7 on the Memorial Lawn with the nightly drone and light show and fireworks.
Dunwoody
Dunwoody will kick off the largest parade in the state at 9 a.m. on July 4, when about 116 entrants will march a 2.7 mile route down Mount Vernon Road, eventually turning into Dunwoody Village for a family fun festival.
Mike Nash, the former athletic director and football coach at Dunwoody High School, is this year’s grand marshal. The parade is presented by the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and Rough Draft Atlanta.
The event will feature four marching bands, the world-famous Weinermobile, and a multitude of dignitaries, including DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and Austin Elementary’s Sarv Dharavane, who came in third at this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee.

East Point
The City of East Point and East Point Main Street Association will host the Salute to the Red, White & Blue celebration from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Downtown Commons. The event will be headlined by RAHBI, the LGBTQ+ creative known for his funk-infused music. Also on the lineup are Dri Jack, Amayé Love, and Tony Evans Jr. A fireworks finale is set for 9:30 p.m.
Sandy Springs
Sandy Springs will hold its annual Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration at City Springs at 1 Galambos Way on Friday, July 4, with a live concert, food trucks, and a free fireworks display. Shuttle buses from off-site parking start at 4 p.m., with food trucks serving starting at 6 p.m. Live music from Hot Flash starts at 7:30 p.m., with the group performing music from the ‘80s dance rock era. Fireworks follow at 9:30 p.m. Information on parking, shuttles, and more can be found online.
Tucker
The City of Tucker will start celebrating America’s birthday a day early with an evening of food, music, and fireworks. The July 3 Celebration of Independence starts at 6 p.m. with 12 food trucks located on and around Main Street. In addition, restaurants like Nicky’s Undefeated and the Local 7 will have street-side service. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m.
Alpharetta
July Fourth Fireworks at Wills Park will begin at 9:15 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the free event. Concessions will be available at the Wills Park Equestrian Center, Wills Park Pool, and baseball concession stands from 5 to 9 p.m. if you don’t want to bring a picnic.
Roswell
The City of Roswell will host its annual Fourth of July Celebration on Friday at Roswell Area Park (10495 Woodstock Road). Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and include live music, family-friendly activities, local food trucks, and a spectacular fireworks display at sunset.
Fourth of July Dining Events
Running the Peachtree Road Race on Friday? Pop over to the Stroll Coffee y Snacks Airstream at the corner of Monroe and 10th for an after party with snacks, drinks, a DJ, and cold plunges. Over on 12th Street, half a block from the entrance to Piedmont Park, wine and coffee bar Larakin will host its annual Peachtree Road Race after party to include a DJ, hot dogs, beer, and plenty of wine and caffeine.
Celebrate Independence Day at Your 3rd Spot’s “Red, White & Play” celebration from July 3-6. The festivities will include cocktails, food, over 100 games, DJs, free bowling, and more. Be sure to indulge in the seven-course Taste & Explore menu that will feature many red, white, and blue ingredients.
Alpharetta restaurant Fogón and Lions is hosting a Fourth of July celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The day includes a $20 burger and beer special, a 1980s rock DJ, and is just a few minutes walk to the nearby fireworks show at Wills Park at 9:15 p.m.
Dunwoody Village’s Fourth of July festivities began on Tuesday this week and will run through July 6, with different experiences each day. Make sure to stop by the Fourth of July parade on Friday.
The women’s sports bar Jolene Jolene at Pullman Yards will celebrate both its grand opening and the Fourth of July on Friday, starting at 3 p.m. The event will feature a DJ, food and drinks, and merch, all while tuning into Women’s Euros soccer, Wimbledon, and Club World Cup matches. If you ran the Peachtree Road Race, don’t forget to bring your bib to get free food and drinks.
Little Bear in Summerhill will feature a Fourth of July-inspired food and drink menu this holiday weekend. The restaurant will be open as usual, with reservations and walk-ins, but will serve a “wacky colonial era” prix-fixe menu.
